Practical Magic Party! Sign up for a Giveaway!
I'm starting the party a little early as I have some committments tomorrow afternoon. I hope to start joining the festivities in the evening.
I think my favorite characters in the movie are "The Aunts". I loved their attitudes and the way they dressed (and who doesn't love the house!). To commemorate "the aunts" I'm having a little giveaway of this necklace I created. It's made of a digital image (image created by Moonlight Journey, check out their button to the left) set in a copper base with a glass overlay. The necklace is a double strand of chocolate brown organza and satin ribbon and about 18 inches long. Sign up to follow my blog and leave me a comment letting me know you're participating in the party (no obligation to read my blog but, I will try to keep things interesting) and on Monday I will choose a random winner!
If the above image is not your style then what witch doesn't need a black cat? This little kitty is set behind glass with a silver tone bail and a black velvet ribbon about 18 inches long.
The lucky winner can choose either necklace. I'll be contacting the winner on Monday. Good Luck!

A Crow at my Window...for real!
What does this mean? I gotta share this because I think it has meaning and I'd like to know what everyone thinks. I'm at work, covering the reception area, which I don't usually do. The regular gal is out due to surgery. So I'm going about my business and I hear a "peck, peck, peck" at the window of our third floor office building. I turn to see a very large crow (I think it was a crow as its tail was more fan shaped but, it was a big black bird) at the window. The crow was cawing for awhile and was walking across the roof of the building. I got up to take a closer look at it through the window. It did not fly away, it just walked around the roof from one side to the other. It stayed there for a few minutes then flew to a lamp post and stayed there for about 5-10 minutes. During the time the elevator door opened but, no one was there! The whole thing feels kind of spooky. The crow has now flown away but, I think it was trying to tell me something. I would love to hear anyone's interpretation of this mystical happening.

Made my first Etsy sales!
I was part of a "sneak attack" from the Handmade Movement and I got my first sales! It was very encouraging. The sales were, of course very nice but, I was really taken aback that someone I don't know thought my stuff was nice enough to buy and share with others. I hope to be adding some more items to my shop this weekend. Of course they will include Halloween themed items! I'll also be doing a giveaway of some of my jewelry when we do the Practical Magic Blog Party. Here's a link to my shop for anyone that wants a look-see and a link to the Handmade Movement.

I saved my blog!!!
My blog was down for awhile as I had tried to add some fancy background to it. Well, I fiddled around with it a bit and was able to restore it. I have to do some catch up with my blog but, I wanted to share what I saw just today outside of my office building - a praying mantis. I did a little googling and this is what the praying mantis symbolizes:
"Praying Mantis Meanings in the Realms of Animal Symbolism
The mantis comes to us when we need peace, quiet and calm in our lives. Usually the mantis makes an appearance when we've flooded our lives with so much business, activity, or chaos that we can no longer hear the still small voice within us because of the external din we've created.
After observing this creature for any length of time you can see why the symbolism of the praying mantis deals with stillness and patience. The mantis takes her time, and lives her life at her own silent pace. "

Funny, when I saw the praying mantis I was talking to a friend who is going through a very difficult time in her life. I comforted her as much as I could but, now that I think about it I didn't tell her to pray. I'm not a religious person by any means but, she is/was. I'll be keeping in touch with her through this rough time and will comfort her and be there when she needs me but, I will also tell her to pray - to whomever she sees fit. I hope it will help.
